Receiving a Grant

The FFNWF Board reviews their grant focuses and allocation for the year usually in March.  If the Foundation is going to conduct the annual grant process through our partner Renton Regional Community Foundation (RRCF), FFNWF will notify them so that status can be posted on their website regarding grants from our donor advised fund(s) held there.  RRCF will post the opening dates for submittal of a Letter of Intent (LOI) for review by the FFNWF Board.  The FFNWF Board will review the LOIs and make a first-cut determination based upon the project’s area of support, as well as the organization’s ability to execute their plan, and the annual FFNWF Board grant target budget allocation.  FFNWF will notify RRCF which of the LOIs have been approved for a full grant request which supplies additional information for the grant.  Those organizations who did not make the list for full application will also be notified by RRCF.

Unfortunately, the Board receives many more requests than can be satisfied. In 2020, 56 requests totaling $930,000 were received. With the annual planned budget allocation for that year between $275,000 - $300,000, there were many worth-while projects that did not get funded. The Board strives to always review each request with fairness and equity and make the best possible decisions for the benefit of the community we serve.
